Carpet Cleaning Steps

To clean and maintain a carpet is a matter of regular and proper care, which yields longer life of the carpet. There are several methods of cleaning your carpet that depend on the type of material of the carpet in consideration.  With few equipments you can easily clean your carpet in a few easy steps:

• First vacuum your carpet for a couple of times.
• If you don’t have the cleaning equipments, don’t worry. You can easily rent them from the service stores.
• For efficient cleaning, mix 2 parts simple green with 1 part water and 1 part ammonia in a spray bottle or garden sprayer. In case you face trouble with ammonia don’t use it.
• Start spraying the most used areas. Stains like grease, wax or gum, must be cleaned properly with De-Solv-it or some other quick stain remover.
• For ease, disconnect the suction hose on the vacuum cleaner and run it over the sprayed areas letting the beater brush take care of the cleaning.
• Once this is done, add white vinegar to the hot water reservoir and spray it over and suck it with the help of a carpet steamer.
• Cover the carpet with some used bed sheets to protect the clean, wet carpets until they are dry.
• For fast drying the carpet, put on the fans on optimum speed.
